Our Story

It all began with a dream of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. The PCT is a 4240 km trail that extends from the Mexican border to Manning Park in BC.

While on a family vacation, we went for a hike at Timberline Lodge and stumbled across a wooden post with a metal patch that said PCT. We looked it up and realized it was the same trail Reese Witherspoon travelled in the movie, Wild.

As I looked into the trail a little more, I asked my 3 kids if they would be interested in taking a hike for 4–5 months, and 2 out of 3 kids said, “NO!” So on April 30, 2002, we started our epic journey.
When we started planning the trip, I looked for food options. As we are vegetarians, there wasn’t much food for us to eat. So I learned about freeze-dried food. It was incredibly expensive, had no selection, and there was way too much sodium.

So I looked into buying a freeze-drier and ended up getting one. For 9 months, I cooked up a storm, packed everything into little boxes and shipped them to various post offices along the trail.

So I dropped everything natural from my product line and filled it with nothing but sugar!
After we got back from our journey, we still had our freeze-drier, and I wasn’t sure what to do with it. The kids showed me a TikTok video of freeze-dried Skittles.

So I made them and brought them to our local farmers’ market. We’ve always been an entrepreneurial family, selling all things natural, specifically anything related to lavender, blueberries, garlic, and raspberries.

I was lucky to sell $650.00 in a day. But when I brought my freeze-dried Skittles, I was sold out within the hour.
Being the trend setter I am, I am constantly coming up with new menu items to stay ahead of the competition. You never know what I will come up with next!
When I was 8 years old, I started selling snow cones with my Snoopy Snow Cone maker, which I got for Christmas.

I would set up my table on my front lawn with my little table and chair and I would grind ice, add a little Kool-Aid and presto, I was making money! I loved the thrill of a sale!

Two Christmases later, I expanded my business when Santa brought me a bubble gum machine.

So you see, I’ve always been selling something and I’ve taught my 3 kids to do the same, and to this day, we travel all over the province and into Saskatchewan selling our delicious Bubbles & Bites!
